Challenge yourself!
Self-improvement is all about stepping out of your comfort zone. Test your limits in whatever ways you can and you’ll soon find yourself moving beyond plateaus and growing in overall confidence and self-esteem. Here are 4 ways to challenge yourself.
-
Challenge yourself physically. Build up fitness in incremental steps based on endurance and intensity. Move outside your usual routine by trying something different, and possibly a little scary! For instance, try a new sport, sign up for a sponsored walk/run, go hiking, or train for a triathlon.
-
Challenge yourself emotionally. Confront whatever self-sabotaging fears are holding you back. Volunteer for something that involves a little fear, anxiety, and calculated risk on your part – perhaps public speaking, an outdoor adventure, or performing in public.
-
Challenge yourself mentally. Keep your mind active with some intellectual stimulation – take on further study, read more widely, volunteer to help a cause you’re passionate about.
-
Challenge yourself socially. Expand and broaden your social circle. Some ideas include: initiating conversations, taking on a leadership role, mending past relationships, or taking a short course in assertiveness or conflict management.
Make moves to jump into a few deep ends – you’ll most likely surprise yourself with what you’re capable of!
