Boot Camps, Personal Training & Corporate Fitness
Where do you want to go?
2 weeks ago I completed a 100km ultra marathon down the Gold Coast. I completed the same run last year in 12 hours and 36 minutes so I had decided that the focus for this year was to be less than 12 hours.
A lot of my training has always involved just straight running and speed work but I realised that if I wanted to break the 12 hours this year it would involve more than that. I needed to “tick all the boxes” and find something that would give me extra core strength and endurance when the going got tough……
In February I joined an 8 week boot camp and haven’t looked back. It was such a crucial part of my lead up training for the 100km – by the last 6 weeks I was attending 3 sessions per week and I felt so fit and strong I just knew that I was in a great position to achieve my goal both physically and mentally……
When I lined up at the start of the race I reflected on all of the sacrifices I had made and I recalled on some of my boot camp sessions where I had gone from not being able to do a pushup off my knees to punching out in excess of 100 per session……. Thanh, Dan and Natalie in amongst the toughness of the sessions really have the ability to encourage you to do what you think you can’t do!!!!!
I went into the race 8kg’s lighter, leaner, fitter and stronger than I have ever felt. My whole body shape had changed and the best part…………..
COMPLETED THE RUN IN 11 HOURS AND 27 MINUTES!!!!!!
And have learned this great lesson “To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift……” I am still continuing to do my 3 sessions a week……..
