Where do you want to go?
Yes, it can be done, you can get your kids fit with the Playstation!
Let's first understand that your kids are gaining weight, and are not fit because of YOU. You feed your kids, you as an adult set the rules, the rules for candy, the rules for how long your kids can play computer games or watch TV.
Now, to get back to the reason you are reading this, how to get your kid fit with the Playstation, Nintendo or any other computer game console.
I've learned first hand that the Playstation can be the best leverage you can have as a parent, leverage, leverage!
As a parent I used to limit my son playing computer games to a couple of hours a week, and try my hardest to get him active and working out, it was always a battle, until I discovered I have some great leverage that can be used to my benefit. I now let him play several times a week, for several hours. The difference being; he now does 30 good quality push-ups for 30 minutes of play.
It is important to watch the form of your kids when they exercise, to get them using proper form and technique you should not count improperly performed exercises, for example; if the butt is up in the air, or the back is arcing, do not count the push-up until form and technique is proper.
My son hates running, but today he ran up the hill and down 7 times, and he did it fast!! Why? Because he was allowed to play the Playstation for one hour after running up and down 6 times. "Why did he do 7 runs?" you ask, well, he would get an extra 30 minutes for every extra run he could push out after doing 6. I had to set a time limit on each run, and he would have to redo it, if he did not make each run within the set time, this was to push him and make him give it his all.
When he was done, he was all red and flustered in the face, but he loved the feeling.
As I said before it does require your time, you need to be there to count the exercises, explain them, make sure they are performed properly, you need to help them lose weight, invest your time to get them active etc.
If you do not have the time then you should consider getting a personal trainer or other activities for your kids like for example; kids boot camp, soccer, basketball, boxing etc.
